Dear Parents

This is the end of the first group of four weeks. As we are starting the second month of work and all exercises, all home work will have the number 2. For the first week, that is 2A and then 2B, 2C, and 2D. Friday, June, just before the graduation, we will finish the week 9D.

For the students, the work plan n°1 was not very easy, because they needed to understand the organisation of their new class, with different note books. The blue one for the control, the green one for lessons, the red one for History, Geography, Sciences and Civics. The little yellow one for poetry and songs and the orange one for home work. They need to understand that requests about neatness and presentation are not same. In the green note book, where we pick notes for lessons, student are very free about presentation but not free about time, because they need to follow step by step the lesson with other students to be ready to participate and to create the lesson, to look for with other students the secret of the lesson. But in the red note book, the students are free with time. They can spend time to arrange the pictures which illustrate the lesson.

During the first month, the grades are pretty good because the goal was to get good habits to work efficiently and academic difficulties were not added.

This year for the first time I opened a special book, the CE3 pink notebook, because some students seem to have some possibility and time to get extra knowledge and look quite enthusiastic to try to deepen their understanding of some subjects.

We didn't go to library at the regular time and we didn't start computer class. One of the reasons had been my decision, because the work plan n°1 had not a full first week, and we didn't work for Labour Day, and the French CE2 national tests have taken some time on the normal timetable.

The work plan 2 will run from Monday 19th to Friday, October 14th, last day before Fall Break. You can easily find the different academic subjects on this site. During this time we need to start the China project. The students who are sure about their own theme are welcome to suggest a first short intervention to tell in front of other students what they have discovered and plan for their projectIn preparation for the painting class, I will encourage them to draft the scene they will paint on the 16 X 20 canvas.
